CPRS-NS is governed and run by a volunteer Board of Directors.
Board involvement is a rewarding way to help advance the public relations and communications profession in our area. The board meets once monthly except June-August to plan and oversee membership, scholarships and awards, accreditation, professional development and social events, chapter finances, budget and operations, web and social media content, liaison with post-secondary PR programs, faculties and students, other member benefits, and more!

With more than 18 years of experience in the public and private sector, Lauren is a seasoned communications leader specializing in media relations, strategic communications, storytelling and crisis management. Lauren is currently the Director of Communications for Killam Apartment REIT, following a progressive career in the federal government in Calgary, Ottawa and Halifax. In addition, Lauren successfully ran her own communications business for several years working with clients ranging from non-profits to municipal governments. Lauren is a volunteer basketball coach, and a Women’s Equity Lab Atlantic partner.
She graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University with a Bachelor in Public Relations.
Alison is an accredited senior communications and engagement strategist who has spent her career working with and on behalf of complex, customer-centric organizations across Atlantic Canada. She has worked at PR and marketing agencies, for profits and non-profits in utilities, financial services, and economic development. Alison has led teams, mentored those new in their careers and coached those looking to grow their skills. She has grown her professional practice areas to include public relations, stakeholder engagement, marketing and change management. Alison believes the best work always starts with strategy and if you aren’t learning new things and having fun where you are, you should find somewhere else to be.

Dawn is a strategic communications professional, storyteller, and coach skilled in media relations, crisis communication, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement. Most of her career has been spent managing sensitive issues and acting as a trusted advisor, guiding leaders on how to simplify complex subject matter to effectively engage with a variety of audiences.
Dawn is a graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University where she obtained her degree in Public Relations and Certificate in Marketing.
Mina Atia is a Crestview Consultant with a strong analytical focus and a passion for data-driven insights. He advises clients across technology, healthcare, defence, payments, transportation and not-for-profit sectors–delivering communications strategies, advocacy and reputation plans, and executive visibility programs. Mina’s expertise includes stakeholder and Indigenous relations, content development, social media management, and media relations. He uses in-depth analysis to position clients for success and strengthen their reputation.
Previously, Mina worked as a Communications Advisor for an energy utility, leading brand strategy and content management, and as digital communications lead at the Halifax Chamber of Commerce. He holds a Master’s in Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University, an advanced diploma from Nova Scotia Community College, and a Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University. Mina is certified in IAP2, crisis and risk management, and analytics, and is fluent in Arabic and English, with intermediate French. Born in Cairo, Egypt, he was raised in Halifax.
Lauren is a communications specialist passionate about sustainability and helping purpose-driven organizations thrive. With experience across the private, public, and non-profit sectors, she drives meaningful business impact through stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, and events. Known for her positivity and authenticity, Lauren brings a dynamic energy and collaborative spirit to every project she takes on.
A firm believer in lifelong learning and professional growth, Lauren holds a degree in Psychology and Management from Saint Mary’s University, a certificate in Sustainability Leadership from Dalhousie University, and graduated at the top of her class from the Public Relations program at NSCC.
With over eleven years of experience both agency and client side, Ceilidh has led award-winning teams to success for some of Canada’s most loved brands including Canadian Tire, Sport Chek and Metro Inc. She has spent the last five years working with Agnostic, a full-service public relations and marketing agency focused on the agency’s consumer accounts with a heavy emphasis on retail. While Agnostic’s head office is located in Toronto, Ceilidh is fiercely proud of being the sole practitioner in Atlantic Canada, steadily growing business.
A valedictorian graduate from the MSVU Bachelor of Public Relations program, Tien has accumulated diverse experience in the field of public relations through work experiences with public, semi-public and private sectors. He is presently with Enterprise Canada — one of the leading strategic communication and public affairs agencies in the country.
Tien held the position of Vice President of Communications at MSVU Students’ Union, advocating for the diverse voices of over 4,000 students from more than 75 countries worldwide.
Morgan is a collaborative and compassionate PR professional with nearly a decade of experience in agency and nonprofit communications. From global brands to grassroots organizations, she’s managed PR for major companies in Canada and driven awareness for small nonprofits in Nova Scotia. Throughout her career, Morgan has developed a talent for distilling complex ideas into clear, strategic messaging, helping organizations navigate challenges and seize opportunities. She thrives on making connections (whether they’re between people, ideas, or strategies) and believes that impactful work is built on strong relationships. As someone deeply rooted in her values, she takes the time to understand what matters most to others, ensuring work and outcomes are aligned with shared goals.
Molly’s path to the PR industry was not so straightforward, but her determination to achieve her goals has never wavered. Originally from Saint John, New Brunswick, Molly earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Saint Francis University with plans to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. However, the COVID-19 pandemic shifted her trajectory, and she found herself in a marketing and communications assistant role for a nonprofit. Through this employment opportunity, she discovered her new love and passion for creating concise communication and marketing strategies, as well as her interest in storytelling.
She was accepted to the Master’s of Public Relations Program at Mount Saint Vincent University. For 2 years, she learned all she could about the ins and outs of Public Relations. Since finishing her Master’s, she has volunteered with CPRS NS and worked for PharmaChoice Canada as a Merchandising Coordinator. Most recently, Molly accepted a position as a Public Relations Specialist at Cooke Inc. She is excited to continue her involvement with CPRS NS and help amplify this incredible organization.
Rebecca Hatton is a seasoned communications and marketing specialist with over a decade of experience leading strategy, content development, and stakeholder engagement across the defence, security, healthcare, and tech sectors. Known for translating complex information into accessible messaging, Rebecca has advised senior executives and led high-impact campaigns at organizations such as Ultra, ADGA Group, and Commissionaires Ottawa. She excels in corporate communications, media relations, and brand management, and has spearheaded digital transformations, internal communications strategies, and external thought leadership initiatives. A two-time graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University, Rebecca has a Bachelor and Master of Public Relations. Her collaborative approach, strategic mindset, and ability to build strong cross-functional relationships make her a trusted advisor and leader in the communications field. She is currently the Senior Communications and Marketing Specialist at Commissionaires Ottawa.
