Public Relations Director
The Nova Scotia SPCA is seeking a volunteer Public Relations Director to provide guidance to
the Society on public relations, communications, and media issues and to serve as the Society’s
media spokesperson.
The ideal candidate will have a Public Relations or Communications degree or diploma and at
least five years experience in the public relations or media field. Experience working with nonprofit
organizations and/or experience in crisis management would be an asset.
The Public Relations Director would work closely with the Society’s Board of Directors, Fund
Development Officer, and Provincial Cruelty Investigations staff. The Director would need to be
accessible during business hours to respond to media inquiries by consulting with appropriate
SPCA staff or Board members, and would need to be able to devote an additional 10-15 hours
per month to general planning/strategy tasks and to writing press releases and other material as
needed.
